Scout Elections

The instructions that I use to do scout elections are directly from the Scoutmaster's Handbook. Please read pages 18 and 19 of this link if you would like to see how that is run. Things do change in scouting and some new positions have been added. If your scout missed tonight's meeting he still has time to get his position requests in. Our newly elected SPL is Frankie and he will be present at the April 4 meeting to review the election requests and make decisions. The only "elected" positions are the SPL and Patrol Leaders. The rest of the positions are assigned by the SPL who will review the requests, he will compare those requested to an advancement report to see who needs/wants a position and he will assign them as he sees fit. Jeremy Savoie is Troop 1's new scoutmaster and in the future it will be up to him to make determinations for the future of the troop's activities.

Review this link for more information.

St Patrick’s Day parade March 17

Our sponsor, The Kiwanis Club of Gaylord, would be honored for as many scouts as can carry an American flag in the St Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday the 17th, same day as the Sportsplex Lockin.  Meet behind Tim's Pub on at 11:30 am.  Parade is at noon and lasts for about 20 minutes.  They would love to see many scouts carrying flags.   If you would like to do something helpful for our sponsor or need service this opportunity is for you. Scoutmaster will not be there as I am doing last minute prep for the lockin but if you have time please consider going to support the Kiwanis flag project.

Youth Protection Training (YPT)

Do you participate within your scout troop?  Then you need to take the Youth Protection Training!

The next generation of Youth Protection Training (YPT) is out. All registered Scouters must take YPT by October 2018 regardless of when their present YPT expires.

It takes about 1 hour. Read the questions carefully on the test. I thought it was a good training.

Attached is a How To Take Youth Protection Training

Roundtable Thursday March 8, 6:30pm potluck, 7pm meeting Indian River

To all Parents and Leaders: Each month there is a monthly Roundtable meeting that all parents and leaders are invited to participate and learn more about scouting. Since the district has now been merged with Thunderhead District we will have a joint Roundtable 4 times a year. This month's Roundtable will be in Indian River, see attached picture. There is always a lot of great information presented, and if you have time, I suggest that you consider attending! This one begins at 6:30 with a potluck and 7pm with the meeting.
