2014 Program Kickoff - looking for a couple volunteers to attend

Hey new scout parents!  Looking for a way to contribute to your scout's new troop?  We need a volunteer or two to attend this 2014 Kickoff.  It's held in Kalkaska at Kalkaska United Methodist Church on May 10 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  You will learn a lot about scouting in the break out sessions, and we need a volunteer to be our new Popcorn Chair.  There is a session called "Popcorn University"!  Please let me know if you can go, and I will register you.  Lunch is free. Share what you've learned with the rest of the troop!

Scouting for Food pickup tomorrow! Then Bowling!

Scouts, don't forget tomorrow, Saturday, is the day to pick up the Food Pantry items! Return to the homes in your neighborhood where you left the flyers and pick up any canned goods left on their porch. Don't knock on doors! Once your food items are collected, bring them to the Otsego County Food Pantry promptly at 3:00 p.m. for a group picture.  Wear your class A shirt for the photo.   All Troop 1 Boy Scouts are welcome to come bowling and have pizza from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Gaylord Bowling Center.  Free bowling & pizza for those who participated in the food drive.

Meeting location changed on April 30, please read.

On Wednesday April 30th, Bagley hall is closed.  We are planning to meet behind the Middle School near that cabin to learn how to read a map and do some compass work.

So please plan to meet behind the Middle School near that cabin.  If you drive behind the school, you’ll see it.

If your scout has a compass please bring it.

In case of rain, we still plan to meet there… we are working on getting permission and keys to use the cabin.

Also, I still need 2-3 older scouts to assist in teaching compasses to the cub scouts on May 17th at the Otsego County Park.  Please let me know ASAP if you are interested or contact Jeremy Savoie.  This would be service time, and the cub scout pack requested the help of a few older scouts.  If there are no scouts available, then the Cub Scout Pack may want the help of leaders who can teach the compass.
