Movie opportunity in TC

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas!

We have room for more Scouts, Families, and Friends to attend our special showing of Coco tomorrow, Saturday, December 23, 2017I have seen the movie and it is wonderful. If I was a movie critic, I would give it 5 stars!
We will be giving out some prizes before the movie which starts at 10:30AM at the Cherry Blossom Theatre in Traverse City. Tickets are $10, but a current Scout can bring a friend that might be interested in Scouting and the Scout and friend can go for free! Just show between 10AM and 10:20AM and enjoy.
If you want to fill out the information at the links below you can but you do not have to, just show up!

Dear Scouting Family,

Scouting is the best leadership building program in the world and it is fun for your son and his friends! I think we would all agree that we wish there were more kids in Scouting. That is where you can help!

During this Christmas Season why not give the Gift of Scouting to one of your son’s friends.Introduce a friend to Scouting and your son and his friend can go to Coco or Star Wars: The Last Jedifor free!
All you need to do is invite a friend to the movie, talk to the family about possibly joining Scouting, and have them fill out an interest survey online. That is it! After that it is up to them to decide and your son and his friend can go to the movie for free.

Here is the information, the link to the interest survey, and even an email you can send to a friend’s family:

Dear Friend,
How would you like to go to the movie Coco or The Last Jedi with me for free? All you and your parents need to do is agree to check out information on the Scouting program that I am part of and decide if you want to give it a try or not. Here is a website you and your family can check out: https://beascout.scouting.org/

Pick up your wreaths!

Hi Everyone!

I still have wreaths for a couple of boys. They really need to be picked up so you can deliver them. I will be home again tomorrow between 5 and 7. If you cannot make it in this time, please get in touch with me. My phone number is 252 503-1442 (call or text) email is rhaus123@gmail.com

Wreaths will not be at the meetings- we have family commitments the next several Wednesdays that will be keeping us away.

Now that the remaining wreaths have been sorted, we have the following wreaths left over:

1 - 22" Balsam
1 - 27" Balsam
1 - 30" Douglas

These are not extras- someone is missing wreaths. I'm sorry for this mix-up, I can only guess it happened with the tied bunches. If you discover you are missing one of these items, please let me know and I will find a way to get it to you.

Money for the wreaths can be turned in directly to Mr. Reynolds.

Wreaths are here!

Wreaths are here! This weekend I will be sorting them out and finishing bows. Everything will be ready to pick up on Monday. If those with wreath orders could pick them up from my garage Monday evening between 4 and 9, I would very much appreciate it. If you cannot make it during this time, please contact me either via a phone call or text at (252) 503-1442, or email at rhaus123@gmail.com. I am usually home so I am flexible on times. If you would like to help sort wreaths or help me finish making bows, that is what I will be doing Sunday afternoon.

To get to my house:
First, it's the same place as the Campoween and the summer campout. If you were not at either of those events, these are the directions

Take M-32 west toward Elmira. After the 4 lane passing section, turn right on Hallock Rd. After approximately 3/4 of a mile, turn left on Parmater Rd. We are the second driveway on the left, right before the seasonal road sign.

For those who prefer to plug an address into a GPS, my address is 5175 Parmater Rd, Gaylord. Just make sure it takes you west, not east. If it says East, try using Elmira as the town instead of Gaylord.

Thank you!

Service Projects

Service Projects (Service Time)
I had some questions about what counts as service time, and some instances where the service is completed before having the scoutmaster approve it.  I'm not so strict on the approval process as long as it's a known service time that we normally approve.  If anyone finds more comprehensive information for me to read, please feel free to post in the comments.

This is what I found:
This link indicates the ranks and the Service Projects required.

This link is Journey to Excellence and it gives some examples of Service Projects.

Typical Service time projects that boys in Troop 1 do are marching in parades, work projects such as raking, trail cleanup, collecting specimens at Jordon Fish Hatchery etc., helping out at the food pantry, helping out the cub scouts pinewood derby and at meetings or camping, helping at the county park Halloween weekends, Scout Sunday, helping at a pancake breakfast and so forth.

You don't need permission from me to earn service time if you are showing up at a scout related activity.  It is probably good to run your service idea past me before you do it so that you can be assured that it would count as a Service Project (service time). But I rarely turn down service time hours, because most of the time they are appropriate.
