Spring Camporee 2007

Sponsored by Charlevoix Troop 11
At The Charlevoix Rod and Gun Club May 4, 5 and 6.

Many exciting things are planned for this year’s Camporee! There will be things for the older Scouts as well as things for the younger Scouts and Webelos.

It is important for the the older Scouts to think about the hiking opportunities available this year since hiking activities will require pre-registration, and specific gear. Older Scouts are being informed early so they can think about and prepare for the adventure activities!

Base camp activities: For any Scouts.
Dish washing station training
• Compass training and a 1 mile hike with a map and compass.
• 5 Mile Hike—if we have enough interested Scouts with lugs on their shoes!
• Fire Building ‘Firem’n Chit’ station – hands on experience!
Totin Chip station — participants must leave with all fingers please.
• Knots and Rope Use station—advanced un-tying if necessary.
• Basic First Aid station — strategically located near the Totin Chip station!
• Flag Display and Folding station
• Fun Cooking and Camp Gadgets!
Geo caching
• Ultimate Frisbee games
• 1 hour Service Project
• And more…
Many of the stations will complete some of the Boy Scout and Webelos requirements!

For the older scouts:
Backpacking Merit Badge—This is a 5 mile hike and overnight camp with full backpack gear. Participants will have their own activities and camp fun. A Great Opportunity. See your scout book for what type of equipment is necessary. Scouts will need to preregister for this. There will be special gear and preparation to do this activity. This activity will preclude the scout from the base stations since they will be away. It will fulfill the backpacking requirements with the exception of a couple longer hikes they need to do on their own.

Wilderness Survival Merit Badge—An overnight trip where scouts build their own shelter and cook their own food . Scouts will need to pre-register for this. There will be special gear
and preparation to do this activity.

Please see Mrs. Savory for more details.
