Want to go to Comerica Park for a Tiger's game?

Is anyone interested in going to Comerica Park for a Tiger's game?  If Troop 1 had 15+ people interested in going to a baseball game, there is a special called Weekday Value Pack. This package is an Upper Reserve ticket and a food voucher (hot dog, small pop, and chips) for under $20.00 per person!

There is an afternoon game on Thursday Aug 27th that starts at 1pm.  it would be a long day, but could be a down and back (leave at 9am, get back at 8pm).  Please reply to this email if you want to go and we will quickly make arrangements!  We need 15+ people for this package deal. If you and your scout are interested in participating in this, Leader Kevin Reynolds is organizing it.

2015 Eagle Scout Scholarships

Apply here for 2015 Eagle Scout Scholarships: https://nesa.academicworks.com/

College is expensive. The National Eagle Scout Association wants to help.
The window for 2015 Eagle Scout scholarships — offering cash for college to those who have earned Scouting’s highest honor — is now open. The deadline to apply is earlier this year; applications must be received by Oct. 31, 2015.
All applicants must be members of the National Eagle Scout Association, or NESA. But Eagles can become a NESA member before applying.
Also new this year is that NESA scholarships are payable to Scouts attending vocational trade schools and approved programs

Order of the Arrow Ordeal weekend.

For those elected to Order of the Arrow, the Ordeal is this weekend. I forwarded that information to your email, so check your email and make a decision quickly if you are going to attend.  Let me know if I should reigster you.  The cost is $50. Scouts and Leaders elected to Order of the Arrow have 1 year to complete their Ordeal weekend.  There will be another chance in October 8-10 weekend at Gerber, and possibly again in the spring 2016.  If you do not complete your Ordeal, then you will have to be re-elected.

Also, we hope to see you participate in the Alpenfest Parade on Saturday! Wear a hat to keep the sun off and wear sunscreen.  Let's show everyone how we can be prepared for a hike! (make sure your pack is as light as possible) Be at the dog park area after 10:15 am. Scout Leader Tabitha will be in charge of the parade.

Summer camp is around the corner! Please be at Bagley hall this Sunday, July 19 no later then 8:00 am (7:45 is better!) We plan to pack up the trailer and leave as soon as we've all arrived and paperwork is checked. Bring 2 copies of your physical form, and pack appropriately. Do not forget your water shoes. Below is a suggested summer camp list that came from the Cole Canoe Base Leaders Guide (I edited it some).

Opportunities to Earn Merit Badges outside of the Troop

Here are some other opportunities to earn merit badges...You might be able to incorporate these merit badges into your summer family vacation trips!  My scout earned his Environmental Science merit badge at Cranbrook Institute in Bloomfield Hills, and his Scouting Heritage merit badge in Texas on a family vacation.  With a little research you can incorporate merit badges into family trips and associate a memory with the merit badge!
