May 10th Overview of the Meeting

Announcements:

June 21, 2006 there will be a Summer Camp Meeting, the new scouts and family are encouraged to be there. It will be very informative.

The rainbow ribbon from Spring Carnival Camporee was added to the Scout Flag.

Spring Camporee was also discussed to get a feel of how everyone liked it and the things that will be done differently.

There was Board of Reviews completed for those scouts advancing rank. While this was done the other scouts enjoyed playing football outside.

Scoutmaster Notes:
Each scout needs to take ownership of themselves as well as being there for other scouts. Lets have a Can Do Attitude.

Donald’s Review of Boy’s Life May 2006

I read the Underwater Trail it’s about Troop 323 going for a 25-mile hike through Arizona Clear Creek Canyon. They had to walk over huge boulders and monstrous ice-cold pools of water. The part they didn’t like was having to go through the freezing water and then just keep walking. Some of the water was ankle deep and others 20 feet deep. The hardest part of the trip was The White Box. It only took five minutes to get through but you couldn’t stop working.

Make sure to read your Boy’s Life magazine for this full article.

Council Challenge to Troops and Packs

If anyone has any ideas or wants to participate in this just let me know.
Thanks - Mrs. Savory

FROM - Mark Ewing

The Council Golf Outing for Scouting is May 10th at Crystal Mountain.

Troop 125 in Cadillac has pledged $50 to be a cart sponsor for the event and
challenges other units to do the same.

The Golf Committee has decided that it will give a pizza party to the troop
or pack that comes up with the most cart sponsorship. If you know of any
business, family, or individual that would like to be a cart sponsor for $50
or a hole sponsor for $100 please let us know and get credit towards the
pizza party. Also we are looking for items for a silent auction at the
event. The unit that brings in the most donations will be the winner! So
far the all you have to beat is $50, so why not give it a try.

The golf flyer can be found on our website at www.stcbsa.org

Thanks for any help you can give this worthwhile event!

Everyone is invited to an open house at the National Weather Service in Gaylord on Saturday, May 6th. The open house will run from 10 am until 2 pm. You can visit the office at anytime during those hours. There will be office tours, displays of weather observing equipment and upper air balloon demonstrations. We will also be raffling off a brand new NOAA Weather Radio and an official National Weather Service rain gauge.
