Summer camp at Cole Canoe base is July 19-25th!

Summer camp at Cole Canoe base is July 19-25th. The troop is already making payments based on a estimation of the scouts that will be attending camp this year.  On March 2nd, Scoutmaster will be able to register Scouts for camp. We will need commitments from scouts and parents for both attendance at camp and the cost of camp. On April 6, scouts will be able to signup for merit badge classes and other activities. Summer camp is $300 this year.

Every scout should earn his way to camp by participating in fundraisers or helping to mow the cemetery.  Cleanup and mowing will begin mid May and at that time you can start earning money for camp.  There is also popcorn left to be sold, at any time you can contact the Popcorn Chair to sell the popcorn and you will get a portion of those proceeds.

Lastly, if your scout qualifies for the free or reduced lunches you may qualify for a campership from council to help offset the cost of camp. All Campership Applications must be approved by the Scoutmaster. They are due by APRIL 1st.

Alpenfrost this weekend!

Don't forget to support or help the Kiwanis Club of Gaylord this weekend at the Alpenfrost with their Snowball Toss from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Wear your scout uniform.  Bring a parent to supervise unless the Kiwanis give you permission to stay without a parent. After helping out for a little while, enjoy many of the other fun events planned for the Alpenfrost.  Dress warm and support Gaylord!  Record your service time in your Boy Scout handbook. Every scout needs service time to rank up, and whenever we can we should always support our sponsor, the Kiwanis Club of Gaylord.

Don't forget to bring your scout handbook to the meeting tonight!

Scouts, please bring your scout handbook for tonight's meeting, especially the younger scouts who need to rank up. We'd like to check out your progress and make meeting plans that will help you achieve your rank. Parents, help us out and remind your scout to wear their uniform as always and bring their scout handbook. Thanks!

Troop Committee Challenge

Parents!  Every month a Round table meeting is held in Petoskey which is designed to inform leaders about what's happening in scouting in Michigan.  There is a Troop Committee Challenge training that will be held prior to that meeting at 6pm on Thursday.  This training would be beneficial for any member of our committee (that means you!) to learn more about scouting.  In addition, when the awards are given out each year, it's based on a point system where we get points for everything our troop does: recruitment, service, camping, training, etc.  You, as a parent and member of our committee, can earn points for our troop in our Journey to Excellence.  Please consider attending this training to learn more about scouting and earn some points for our troop.  Your knowledge helps everyone in the troop.  Thank you.  Consider carpooling with each other.

WHEN:            February 5, 2015

TIME:               7:00 P.M.

WHERE:          LDS Church, 707 Alcan Dr., Petoskey

THERE WILL BE A TROOP COMMITTEE CHALLENGE TRAINING SESSION HELD AT 6:00 P.M. PRIOR TO THE ROUNDTABLE FOR THOSE THAT NEED THIS TRAINING.
