The library is looking for some help from the scouts. The project is located
at the Otsego County Demonstration Gardens on Livingston BLVD by the High near
the High School and Health Department. We currently have at least 5 eagle
projects in this garden.
Tomorrow, June 29 Wednesday, is wood chip spreading from 3-5pm. This counts
as service time to write in your scout handbook. Please bring water bottle,
gloves, rake, and wheelbarrow or bucket to spread wood chips. Wear your Class B
tshirt so you represent scouting.
We need a few more adult volunteers to supervise. Please let me know if you

NYLT
Next week eight of our scouts will be attending National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Camp Greilick. Two of those scouts are past Senior Patrol Leaders attending as counselors and the other six scouts are our future leaders who are eager to learn.
The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
Our troop has been successfully led by scouts who have put the lessons they learned at NYLT into action. This is an important campout to instill leadership skills into the hearts and minds of the boys who will lead the troop in the future. I am very proud our scouts for all their hard work in contributing to the success of our troop. Please join me in encouraging the scouts who are attending to pay attention, open their hearts and enjoy their week at NYLT. Good luck Kellen, Garrett, Ethan, Nathan, Dominique, Frankie, and the two counselors Andrew and Austin. Troop 1 is proud.

Flag ceremony and mowing tonight.
Tonight is the flag retirement ceremony and flag history ceremony at the Elks Lodge on at 6:00pm. It is open to the public for the ceremony, and some members of the troop will be there in uniform to help. This would be service time if you are in uniform.
I know that we also have mowing going on tonight, so as long as we have some representation at both it would be great. If you plan to mow, please proceed with that plan.

Service Time for Tuesday
Start off your summer vacation with some service time! The library is looking for some help from the scouts. The project is located at the Otsego County Demonstration Gardens. We currently have at least 5 eagle projects in this garden.
The proposed dates for brush hauling and wood chip spreading are daytime slots of June 14 Tuesday 9am-12noon, and June 29 Wednesday, 3-5pm. This counts as service time to write in your scout handbook. Please bring water bottle, gloves, rake, and wheelbarrow or bucket to spread mulch. Wear your Class B tshirt so you represent scouting.
We need a few more adult volunteers to supervise. Please let me know if you can come. Thanks.
We didn't talk about this at a meeting but also on Tuesday evening the troop was invited to the Elks Lodge on June 14th at 6:00pm for Flag Day ceremony and retirement. It is Open to the public for the ceremony, and some members of the troop generally go in uniform to help. This would be service time if you are in uniform.
Take advantage of these opportunities to get some service time completed for rank advancement and help the community at the same time! Hope to see you there!
