Shoepac lake Campout October 3-5

I'm super excited!  It's another camping adventure!  October 3-5 Troop 1 will be going to Shoepac Lake for a Karst Field trip and campout.  What is Karst? Karst refers to a limestone region with many sinkholes, abrupt ridges, caverns, and disappearing and underground streams. Scouts will be given the opportunity to complete two merit badges Geology and Nature. We will do prerequisites for these merit badge this Wednesday and next Wednesday at our regularly scheduled meeting.  Also if you are already working on the Fishing merit badge and need to catch a fish to complete the badge, here is an opportunity for you to do that.  Scouts should bring fishing poles.  One of the requirements for the Nature merit badge is two catch 2 species of fish. Scouts under 17, can fish without a license, but they are required to observe all fishing rules and regulations.  Scouts over 18 and adults will need a fishing license.

We also need chaperones to camp and drivers to transport scouts!  So far we have Scoutmaster and Mr & Mrs. Adams planning to attend. Please let Scoutmaster know ASAP if you can camp with us to help supervise our scouts or drive (or both).

Troop News!

Committee Meeting on this Sunday, Sept 5.  6:00 pm Scouts, 7:00 pm leaders and committee members. We are planning events and fundraisers for the new year.  Come and be a part of the fun!

Leaders Eric Clink and Ken Arndt plan to attend this event on September 11.  If you are available, please plan to attend.  Record your service time in your Scout book. Information for this event will be discussed at next weeks meeting.

Kathy Arndt requested some volunteers for the Regional Ski patrol on September 27 from 8:00 am- 3:00 pm at Gaylord High School.  They are looking for "patients" for splinting and first aid practice.  Please let me know of your interest.  Record this service time in your Scout book if you attend.  Information for this event will be discussed at next weeks meeting.

In the future, all volunteer requests must be submitted to committee for pre-approval.  It's hard at this time of year when we haven't had meetings to approve worthy events.
