August 19 - 24 - Kiwanis Dime Toss at the Otsego County Fair. Volunteer hours count towards service time. Contact Mrs. Salem to sign up.

August 27 - Patrol Leaders Meeting at Bagley Township Hall. Contact Mr. Sevener with your questions.

September 3 - Regular Wednesday Troop meetings begin. New meeting location is Bagley Township Hall.

Hessel Planning

Hello everyone,

As you may know Hessel is coming up and this year's theme is merry old England. I had the idea of doing Braveheart, which for those of you who don't know it was about the Scottish fighting the English for freedom. If anyone has any other ideas we will have a short planning meeting at Silversides, so start thinking of ideas.

USS Silversides Update

We are full for our night on the USS Silversides!

Troop 1 has 31 scouts and 11 adults signed up for our 42 bunks on August 16th. There are also 3 adults attending that will not be staying on the sub.

Watch for updates on logistics, gear, and food plans.

Community Service: Adopt-A-Highway

Troop 1 will assist the Otsego Wildlife Society (OWLS) with their Adopt-A-Highway project on Wednesday, July 23rd.

Volunteers will meet at the Big Lake Party Store at 5:30 PM. We should be finished in a couple hours at which time the OWLS will furnish pizza and soda for all.

All volunteers need to wear shoes, long pants and gloves.

ALPENFEST PARADE

All scouts and adult leaders are welcome to march in the Alpenfest Parade on Saturday.

The parade staging area is in the open field between South Illinois Street (Fire Station) and Old 27 South (Library).

Scouts of all ages should be at the staging area by 11:30AM. The parade starts at noon.

PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE!

Alpenfest Events

Troop 1 volunteers will help at the Kiwanis Dime Toss Booth during Alpenfest.

Troop 1 will march in the Alpenfest Parade on Saturday, July 19th. Meet at the staging area at 11:00 AM, parade starts at noon.

Scouting for Adventure

The 2008 Sea Base crew was filmed by the Outdoor Channel for the upcoming series "Scouting for Adventure".

The Scouting for Adventure programs are scheduled to air in August. If you get the Outdoor Channel, please look for listings in August and email Troop 1 with dates and times.
