22 2 NONE Helping Veterans with PTSD - you can help by hiking, volunteering or donating!

Tonight we had a guest speaker, Tabitha Beach, to talk about PTSD, a condition that afflicts many people especially veterans. She is helping to organize a hike to bring awareness. There are several ways that you can participate. You can earn service time for rank advancement by volunteering to help out at the event. You can work on the hiking merit badge, or rank advancement and either walk the entire length of the hike or walk in intervals of 5 miles at a time. Lastly, you can donate money to this great cause as they try to help veterans who are afflicted with PTSD.

22 2 NONE's first official event will be a 22 mile hike to raise funds and awareness of veteran suicide on Oct 22. All donations are going to Reigning Liberty Ranch, in Traverse City to help with the fantastic programs they are already providing the Veterans that come to them. Step off at: Milton Twnshp Fire Dept. in Kewadin, MI Destination: Bryant Park in Traverse City, MI Click the link BELOW to; HIKE, DONATE OR VOLUNTEER! http://eepurl.com/cft569

Wednesday's meeting: Cyber Chip

At Wednesday's meeting we are going to do the Cyber Chip.  One of the requirements is to write and sign a personalized contract with your parent or guardian that outlines rules for using the computer and mobile devices, including what you can download, what you can post, and consequences for inappropriate use.  If you do this before you come to the meeting, you will be one step closer to a completed Cyber Chip.  Otherwise, you can do this requirement for next meeting.

Additionally, you can do this requirement and present it at an upcoming meeting: As an individual or patrol, use the EDGE method and the Student Project Kit to teach Internet safety rules, behavior, and “netiquette” to your troop or another patrol. You are encouraged to use any additional material and information you have researched. Each member of the patrol must have a role and present part of the lesson. You can do this as a patrol at the meeting Wednesday.

October 5 Scout meeting, merit badge wrap up before Court of Honor

The October 5 Scout meeting will be a merit badge wrap up before Court of Honor.  Our advancement chair needs time to enter all the data and get the awards ordered.  So, if you have outstanding merit badges please look at the paperwork now and see what you can complete prior to the October 5 meeting.  Merit badge counselors Kathy Arndt (First Aid), James Lake (Communications), Eugene Branigan (Hiking), Ken Arndt (Citizenship in the Community, Wilderness Survival) will be available to sign off any outstanding requirements.

If you are trying to advance in rank, please complete those requirements by next week, so that you will have time to get a Board of Review completed.

Scoutmaster has the partial blue cards and the Individual History Reports.  Let me know if you want to pick them up prior to next week's meeting.

Welcome back!

Have a great Labor Day weekend! Rest up and have fun before school begins next week! We hope to see you at our regularly scheduled Troop 1 meeting on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Bagley Hall.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Our next committee meeting is Sunday, September 11 6:00 pm scouts, and 7:00 pm leadership and parents.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Our first outing will most likely be the International Scout Rally at Wilwin Lodge. We will see who is interested on Wednesday and we will find out if we have enough parents committed to camp and drive scouts for the camping trip. If you haven't camped with us yet, this might be a good time to try, the weather is still nice!
