Andreae Cabin campout and Hiking merit badge.
Save the date! Troop 1 has tentatively reserved the weekend of Aug 12-14 at Andreae Cabin in the Pigeon River to do the hiking merit badge. Leader Eugene Branigan and SPL Benjamin are planning this trip. The hiking merit badge is one of 3 eagle required merit badges (swimming, hiking or cycling). Mr. Branigan also has followup hikes planned for the following weekends in August to fulfill more hiking requirements. Put this date on your calendar and watch for future details. Cabin camping doesn't count for camping merit badge, but perhaps those who need camping days could sleep in a tent outside the cabin. We will ask if that is possible. We need more leaders to volunteer to go. Scoutmaster's daughter will be coming in from Arkansas so Scoutmaster will not be committing to this weekend.

Service Time at the Otsego Demonstration Gardens
Check out this article about the library Storybook project! SPL Ben and Scoutmaster were there tonight to check it out and there is still mulch next to the shed in the woods to be spread along the trail before Friday. If you need service time, let Cathy at the library know that you are going to go spread mulch. Bring a wheelbarrow or buckets.

Parent notes for Camp and Packing list
Parents:
Summer Camp is $300 and fee is non-refundable. If your
account is not current, please be prepared to make a payment towards camp when
you drop your scout off on Sunday. If
you are currently mowing then it can be a small payment, if it’s not please
make a larger payment towards camp. This
is your scout’s biggest expense during the year and it is easy for the balance
to get out of hand. Make the check to
Troop 1.
Camp is Sunday July
17-Saturday July 23. Please meet at Bagley
hall on Sunday at 8:30 am and we hope to get on the road by 9:30. All gear needs to be packed in troop trailer,
paperwork checked, and final emergency slip signed, and payments made for camp.
If your scout takes medicine then that needs to be checked in with the Leader
who will be in charge of meds.
Alpenfest Parade Saturday
We hope to see you participate in the Alpenfest Parade on

tomorrow Austin's eagle project
Don't forget! Tomorrow is Austins eagle project and he needs your help! Come July 9 (and 10th if necessary). It will be held at the VFW site near old 27 and McCoy from 10-5pm. Please bring socket sets, gloves and safety glasses and hands ready to work. The more socket sets the better! Lunch will be served.
Summer Camp Leader Spot available
As it turns out, one of our leaders for summer camp cannot attend. We have 6 leaders attending and 1 additional spot that is reserved.
The choices I have are:
1. Fill the spot with a full time leader/parent. The cost is $135.
2. OR- Since Jeremy is pulling the troop trailer Sunday and leaving on Monday , I could split up the week that we’ve already paid for with another leader or two who can only come for a couple days. If we do that, then the days/nights I have open are: Monday night, Tuesday, Wed, Thur, Friday. The cost is $27 per day.
At this point I’m not aware of anyone else who was willing to go, so I will do this on a first come first serve basis.
