Troop 1 Christmas Party tonight!

Troop 1 Christmas Party tonight! Bring a snack to pass and a game and join the fun for our last meeting this year! See you again on January 7, 2015.

The Scout Slogan: Do a Good Turn Daily! Christmas time is upon us, Scouts and Leaders ! It's always our duty to follow the Scout Law, but especially at this time of year take time to give a little more of yourself to others. Be a little kinder, a little more thoughtful and lend a hand. Be good to your parents, and your siblings and show them how much that you care. One week until Christmas Eve, take a little time each day to do a good deed.

Service Opportunity - Kiwanis Club Christmas Baskets this weekend

Troop 1 appreciates our sponsor, Kiwanis Club of Gaylord for renewing our charter with Boy Scouts of America.  At their meeting this morning they were grateful that our troop represented them in the recent Christmas parade, and Scoutmaster updated the club with a summary of our activities. Don't miss out on a opportunity to show your appreciation to the Kiwanis Club by helping with any of the volunteer activities that they do for the community.  This weekend is their annual Christmas basket drive.  They need help from scouts to carry Christmas food baskets.  If you are able to lend a hand, they need helpers on Saturday Dec 13, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and Sunday Dec 14 10:00 am -3:00 pm. The basket distribution is at the Annex building between South Maple and the Middle School.   Wear your Class A shirt, please.

Reminder to complete your Geology and Nature merit badge.

Reminder for scouts who haven't yet completed their Geology or Nature merit badge.  Watch your bird feeders for a month and turn in the results to Mrs. Adams.  Partial merit badge cards will be returned by the end of the year completed or not.  Two scouts are remaining to turn in and identify a rock for the Geology merit badge.  So close to completion!

Gaylord Santa Parade

Gaylord Santa Parade is this Saturday, Dec 6.  Meet at 5:30 pm on South Indiana Street.  Dress Warmly!  The Boy Scouts will walk near/with the Kiwanis.  A couple scouts to carry flag/banner, 6-9 scouts will dress as Reindeer to pull the Klondike sleds.  Also some boys will dress as packages (wearing a wrapped box with arm and leg holes.  Make sure your scout is dressed festively or in uniform, and WARMLY.  Hat, boots, gloves, snowpants if needed. Feel free to dress the part. but DO NOT dress as Santa!  See you Wednesday for the meeting, and Saturday for the parade.  Scoutmaster will be taking pictures as always during the parade but will not be walking with scouts.  Parade starts at 6:00 pm, walks to the pavilion to see Santa. It would be cool to get a group picture with Santa, so as soon as the parade ends stick around for a few minutes to see if that will work out.
