Pack 1 & 3's Pinewood Derby

A big thank you goes out to the youth of Troop 1 who helped out at Saturday's Pinewood Derby event. Eight youth were in attendance throughout the day and helped out with various activities including: registration, race running (both at the start and the finish), concessions, and clean-up. All youth did a fabulous job. In addition they were treated to a preview of the new Camp Promotion Video. Watch for your chance to view this awesome video at our upcoming Camp Promotion and Unit Election Meeting.

From the desk of the Scoutmaster

The goals of this weeks meeting were discussed at the last meeting. Planning how we can work together as a troop is crucial to the outcome of achieving the goals. Our trip to Andreas cabin relies on the fact that the team work together to plan and carry out all the things necessary to making the trip possible. Plan to go to Mr. Sevener at the next meeting and explain to him how you can help the troop achieve their goal for the next meeting.

From the desk of the Scoutmaster

New Years brings about resolutions. Resolutions are Visions. Visions of what we want to change in our life. At our meeting tonight we talked about our vision for our scouting life. In scouting each of us should have the vision to become an Eagle Scout. In order to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout you must complete merit badges. On Wednesday, January 11th go to Mrs. Hancock and tell her what Merit Badge you are working on. She will share something with you. If you do not have a merit badge you may also get something (besides a blue card) by requesting a blue card from Mrs. Savory for a merit badge you would like to work on. I have a vision of having one of the biggest Court of Honors ever for the Spring in 2006!!!

Eagles Make the News

Thanks to the Gaylord Herald Times, on Saturday, December 31st a group of Eagle Scouts from Troop 1 received recognition once again for their hard work and dedication to scouting. The Herald Times has put together a fantastic article about a patrol from our troop who all achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. The rarity of this is mentioned in the article along with information on each of the Eagle projects and upcoming troop events. This is definately an article worth reading. Check it out!!

Avalanche Bay

The troop will be enjoying an afternoon at Avalanche Bay from 1-6 PM on Saturday, January 14th. The cost of the outing is $18.00. Parents and siblings are invited to attend. Youth have been asked to contact Mrs. Savory with the number from their family that will be attending by this weekend. You may either call and leave a message or e-mail her at vsavory1@sbcglobal.net. We are also interested in finding transportation for youth who's family members can not attend. I hope to see you all there.
